  5. Salary Increases and Minimums 1. This year President Machen provided a one-time payment of $500 for all employees earning $50,000 or less, including postdocs. 2. Minimum salaries are as follows: • 9-month/$22,000 for 1.00 FTE • 12-month/$29,446 for 1.00 FTE https://administrativememo.ufl.edu/2013/08/postdoc-salary-minimums/

  6. Health Insurance Benefits Health Insurance Benefits GatorCare • UF pays the full cost of health insurance for individual coverage for postdoctoral associates in GatorCare. • Post Doc pays the state rate for dependent coverage in GatorCare.

  7. Health Insurance Benefits • You must enroll within 60 days of your date of hire • You may include dependent coverage on your GatorCare coverage for your spouse and/or children. Dependent coverage is also available for domestic partners under GatorCare.

  8. Health Insurance Benefits (Continued) Under Affordable Care Act, Postdoc Associates working an average of 30 hours or more will be eligible for the state of Florida health and voluntary insurance plans during open enrollment this fall. • PeopleFirst (state’s 3rd party administrator) will send materials by mail • Postdoc Associates would pay a premium for individual coverage under the state plans • State does not offer domestic partner benefits

Employee Education (EEP) EEP is a program funded by university resources that enables postdocs meeting certain criteria to receive tuition assistance for up to six credit hours of instruction per semester at the state university closest to their work location. Important BenefitsReminders • New Hires • 60 days from the date of hire to enroll in benefits • GatorCare and UFSelect are effective date of hire. • State plans begin on the 1st day of the month AFTER enrollment, or after full month’s premium is collected) • Can elect GatorCare or state health plan, but not both. • Confirm your local home mailing address is current in myUFL • Annual Open Enrollment (Benefits Only) • Scheduled from October 20 through November 7, 2014 • Enroll/cancel/change GatorCare, UFSelect and/or state plans with an effective date of January 1, 2015

Examples of Qualifying Status Change Events • Marriage/Divorce • Birth/Adoption (even if you already have family coverage) • Change in dependent’s eligibility • Change in employment status of employee or spouse (part-time, leave of absence, etc.) • Loss of other insurance coverage If you’re uncertain whether an event allows a change to your benefits, always contact the UF HR Benefits Office for guidance

Leave Benefits 1) Postdoctoral Associates are eligible for Post Doc Leave, which is accrued at 5 hours per pay period up to 352 hours per year to use for vacation, sickness or injury.  2) They are also eligible for the four December Leave Personal Days and all paid holidays. 3)There is no cash out of unused leave. 4) Leave accrual may be reviewed in the biweekly paycheck under the Leave Balances section.  5)Leave benefits do not apply to Postdoctoral Fellows 6)A leave entitlement chart may be found at:http://hr.ufl.edu/wp-content/uploads/docs/leave_cash_out_chart.pdf
