  1. Charity Appeal

  2. Connotations • Complete the connotations work sheet. Connotations: An idea or feeling that a word invokes

  3. Over the next three lessons you will be planning a charity advert for sport relief. • You will then have to pitch your vision for the advert to a carefully chosen panel of judges. • Which ever group has the best advert and the best pitch will win the competition and be crowned the most persuasive group in the whole of QEHS.

  4. The first step towards creating a persuasive advert is to know what you are talking about, therefore you are going to have to do your research! • Each of you has some information about Sport Relief, read what is written then condense and summarise what is written in 20 words exactly.

  5. Report back to the rest of your group what you found out.

  6. Before we write our charity adverts we must think very carefully about the structure. • Does anyone know the rough structure of a charity advert?

  7. Charity adverts are normal split up into three sections PART TWO: HOW THE PROBLEM CAN BE SOLVED PART ONE: THE PROBLEM PART THREE: HOW CAN YOU HELP?

  8. Water Aid • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ma6KcZRtKzE • Watch the advert for Water Aid and keep an eye out for all the persuasive techniques they use.

  9. Everyone in the group is now going to attempt to write a script for a charity advert. • It is really important that you don’t tell anyone else what your ideas are, because you will be combining your fab efforts later into one super advert.

  10. SUPER ADVERT • Share your ideas with the rest of your group. • Form a collaborative advert which includes aspects of every plan.
