  1. GUARD, GUIDE AND DIRECT US WE OFTEN PRAY THESE WORDS. DO WE UNDERSTAND OR BELIEVE THEM?

  2. INTRODUCTION • Does God really answer our prayers? • How does He “guard, guide and direct us” as we request in prayer? • How are we linked to God so that He will come to our aid?

  3. LEARN ABOUT THE HASED OF GOD • Hebrew word – khased – with a gutternal “kh” • I will just say – hased • This word occurs 248 times in our Old Testament • Translated – Mercy, kindness, loving kindness, love • MEANING = LOVING KINDNESS IS WHEN A SUPERIOR INTERCEDES TO PROTECT A PERSON TO WHO THEY ARE LINKED • 1 Chronicles 16:34 – Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy (hased) endures forever.

  4. EXAMPLES OF THE HASED OF GOD • Abraham Genesis 12:3 – I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse those who curse you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed. • Genesis 12:17 – But the Lord plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram’s wife.

  5. EXAMPLES OF THE HASED OF GOD • Genesis 20:3-5 – But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, “Indeed you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a man’s wife.” 4 But Abimelech had not come near her, and he said, “Lord will You slay a righteous nation also? 5 Did he not say to me, She is my sister? And she, even herself said, He is my brother. In the integrity of my heart and innocence of my hands I have done this.”

  6. EXAMPLES OF THE HASED OF GOD • Genesis 20:6 And God said, “Yes, I know that you did this in the integrity of your heart. For I also withheld you from sinning against Me; therefore I did not let you touch her.” • Isaac – Genesis 26:24 And the Lord appeared to him the same night and said, “I am the God of your father Abraham; do not fear, for I am with you. I will bless you and multiply your descendants for My servant Abraham’s sake.”

  7. EXAMPLES OF THE HASED OF GOD • Genesis 26:26 Then Abimelech came to him from Gerar with Ahuzzah, one of his friends, and Phichol the commander of his army. • Genesis 26:28 But they said, “We have certainly seen that the Lord is with you. So we said, Let there now be an oath between us, between you and us; and let us make a covenant with you.

  8. EXAMPLES OF THE HASED OF GOD • Jacob – Genesis 28:20-21 Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me, and keep me in this way that I am going, and give me bread to eat and clothing to put on, 21 so that I come back to my father’s house in peace, then the Lord shall be my God. • Genesis 31:24 But God had come to Laban the Syrian in a dream by night, and said to him, “Be careful that you speak to Jacob, neither good nor bad.”

  9. EXAMPLES OF THE HASED OF GOD • Jacob – Genesis 31:29 It is in my power to do you harm, but the God of your father spoke to me last nightsaying, “Be careful that you speak to Jacob, neither good nor bad.” • Genesis 35:5 And they journeyed and the terror of God was upon the cities that were all around them, and they did not pursue the sons of Jacob.

  10. EXAMPLES OF THE HASED OF GOD • Joseph – The story of Joseph is not about hard luck. • He was sold into slavery by his brothers • He was falsely accused by Potiphar’s wife – in prison • Genesis 39:2-3 The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. 3 And his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made all he did to prosper in his hand.

  11. EXAMPLES OF THE HASED OF GOD • Joseph – Genesis 39:21 Butthe Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. • Genesis 45:5 But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here: for God sent me before you to preserve life.

  12. WHAT ABOUT NOW? • Titus 3:3-5 For we ourselves were disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. 4 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward men appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.

  13. WHAT ABOUT NOW? • 1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. • Romans 4:6-8 Just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works: 7 Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; 8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall not impute sin.

  14. WHAT ABOUT NOW? • Ephesians 1:17-19 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power.

  15. WHAT ABOUT NOW? • Ephesians 3:20-21 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

  16. WHAT ABOUT NOW? • Is our God powerful enough to guard and protect us? • Does God answer our prayer to “guard, guide and direct us” as we often request? • THE “HASED” OF GOD IS STILL POWERFUL: • Exceedingly • Abundantly • Above • All • We ask • Or think
