  1. Write a Letter to Your Elected Official The recent election has reinvigorated the democratic process all over the country. What are you concerned about? Use this template to write a formal letter to one of your elected officials. Follow the step-by-step instructions to complete a powerful letter of what matters to you!

  2. Step 1: Find out who your representatives are Click on this website to find out who your Senators and Representatives are. You should address your letter to one of these people. Roll Call|Congress.org My Congressmen: Senators: Richard Lugar (R) and Evan Bayh (D) House of Representatives: Mike Pence (R-6)

  3. Step 2: Identify your main idea: What is Your Issue? My issue is sustainable energy sources. I’m worried about our continued dependence on foreign oil. I’m concerned about the potential drilling off shore and how it will affect coastal habitats I would like to see money designated for finding clean energy alternatives and creating new jobs around these alternatives.

  4. Step 3: Write your letter You need to know how to organize your letter and how to format it correctly.
