  1. What is going on in:Sweden Joakim Björklund Director of IT services division Linköpings universitet joakim@unit.liu.se

  2. Codex • Swedish higher education CODe EXchange (CODEX) • http://www.codex-se.org/ • All Nordic higher education institutions are welcomed (and some others too). • Share ideas and gain information! • Most universities has a “portal” of some kind – mostly homegrown

  3. Codex • Four universities has formed a ”task force” to build a common framework for uPortal implementations at the universities. • The universities are: Chalmers, Linköping, Stockholm and Umeå. • LPW – Ladok on the Web • SPOCP – Authentication and authorization • LiUPass – Authentication and Single-Sign-On • (Plus also evaluate CAS and Pubcookie)

  4. Codex • LPW – Ladok on the Web is a “middleware” to access data in the Swedish national student documentation system – LADOK. • LPW – SOAP (XML/HTTP) interface. • Written in Java. • Most Swedish universities will sooner or later use LPW-services.

  5. Codex • SPOCP - http://www.umu.se/it/projupp/spocp/ • SPOCP (is short for Simple Policy Control Project) is a cooperative project whose task is to provide the partners with software for authentication and authorization services. The partners are 5 Swedish universities (Karolinska Institutet, Lunds Universitet, Stockholms Universitet, Umeå Universitet and Uppsala Universitet) and Uninett, the Norwegian National Research Network. • The project started informally May 10, 2002, and is planned to end on May 31, 2003. It follows a feasibility study done between August 2001 and March 2002.  • The open source site is http:/www.spocp.org/, the software is currently available at ftp://ftp.su.se/pub/spocp

  6. Codex • SPOCP uses S-expressions to form the rules for the authorization. • There are hooks to retrieve data from external sources. • Interfaces to several programming languages – Java, Perl etc…

  7. Codex • LiUPass is a Single-Sign-On system that can be hooked in to uPortal and other applications (like Achievo (a PHP-app)). • It provides a 75% SSO with SunOne Mail/Calender (ie SunOne trusts the cookies from LiUPass but LiUPass can not yet use SunOne cookies).

  8. Codex • We expect to publish our results on a Sourceforge similar system. This will be our Project-portal. • Code will be available! • All four universities has agreed to put information on most system development projects in the project-portal.
