  13. Why and How is the program Biblically-based? • Every graduate of Welch College completes a Bible major • The purpose statement of Teacher Education includes the following: • Philosophically, the College and Teacher Education Department operate on the basis of belief that God created man as an innocent, spiritual being. • By transgression, humanity lost that innocence and became separated from God, needing the restoration that results from regeneration and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. • Thus the teacher education programs emphasize the need to address the spiritual, as well as the intellectual, emotional, social, and physical nature of man. Only the person who has experienced a restored spiritual relationship with the Creator can be truly prepared for successful living or service. In this way, the needs of the whole man are met.
