  1. Choose to live in the CITY or on the FARM - Create a colonial name for yourself (use explorer/colonist) name list. • Write a journal entry based on factual information from the section you chose (Farm/City) • - Your journal must be based on factual information, but you create the story around it. * Include Info such as: - City or farm? Why did you choose this? - How was the economy established? - Housing? - Picture depicting that journal entry?

  2. “Crime and Punishment” Journal Entry • You are caught “breaking the sabbath” • Discuss what you did and why? • Discuss ONE, of the 3 possible punishments, you received for the crime. • Describe how that punishment affect you and your family (money, family, work, etc.) • Include the “Sig Line” (Signature of your colonist name) • Draw a DETAILED picture symbolizing this entry

Class Differences Journal Entry Prompt: -Were you wealthy, middle class, lower class, or an indentured servant/slave? - How did you become part of this class? - Did you start as an indentured servant/slave and work up? - What do you like/dislike about this class? - How has being a member of this class helped/hurt you? Life for African Americans Journal Entry Prompt: - Based on your class, if you are an indentured servant/slave, what is life like for you? - If you are not an indentured servant/slave, tell about an indentured servant/ slave that you know. Provide a colonial slave name for this person, tell about what you see them doing, what their life is like, and talk about how this person is treated. - If you are a slave, discuss the Middle Passage and your experiences with it. Otherwise, write about what you have heard of the Middle Passage from the slave you know.

  4. Education • As a colonist (child or adult) discuss the education you have, or had based on your class (upper, middle, lower, slave). Did you live in the New England colonies, or Middle/Southern colonies. • What did your school look like? • What subjects did you learn in school?

  5. Colonial Food • What did you primarily eat for breakfast and dinner? • Tell about your family meals for the main meal (between noon-3pm). • How did your family get their food? What was your contribution (hunt/gather/cook)?
