  1. VisualMath INTERVIEW DETAILS

  2. Salaar • Salaar is an 8-year old and very proficient in math. He is an active learner who enjoys math both inside and outside the classroom, and is constantly "pushing the envelope" to learn more math. We are letting him use the math software as a "control" experiment, for which he receives a nominal monthly stipend.. He provides feedback on UI/UX issues and observes and reports how other students use the software. He has also discovered software bugs that were fixed. He is involved in teaching new students how to use the software. He is a beta tester.

  3. Hasan • Hasan is a 10 year old student. He was facing a lot of difficulty in math at school. He was right at the bottom of the class and had visible math anxiety. After using the software for 1 month, there was a visible change in his confidence level. He has overcome his math anxiety and is developing an interest in math. After 2 months of practice, he is already in the top 3 in class. He shows a lot of confidence when presented a math problem. His mental math skills have speeded up. He is able to solve problems involving large integers and decimals very quickly. He learns new manual techniques in math very quickly and is able to solve them on software. He is enrolled as regular a paying user.

  4. Hani • Hani is 9 years old. He has some degree of learning disability. He requires a lot of support to understand math concepts. He was at the bottom of his class in math before he started using the software. His recent class tests show him getting near perfect scores. His mother has given feedback that now he studies math independently and his study habits have improved across all his subjects. He is confident in math and says that math is now his favorite subject. Previously he hated math. Hani is a regular paying user.

  5. Maryam • Maryam is an 8 year old student. She was very poor in math and had acute math anxiety. She started using the software 2 months ago. Currently she is achieving the highest scores in class tests. She is very hard-working but math was her problem subject. Maryam was an early user and she is a free user in exchange for referrals.

  6. Ameera • Ameera is an 11 year old student. She has been facing trouble in learning math and keeping up with the class. She has joined a few days ago and has started to use the software. We will monitor her progress and update here. She shows more interest in just a few days. She is a regular paying user.

  7. Hishaam • Hishaam is a 7 year old student. He was also the earliest student to join on regular payment basis. However after 2 months, we advised his parent to discontinue sending him. The reason is that he is also enrolled in intensive math tutorials in preparation for school admissions testing in April. We feel that the workload is too much for him at this time, and he should re-join after his admissions tests are over. His parent has agreed. We also feel that including him in this study would bias our hypothesis testing as he is also enrolled in another (traditional style) math tutorial.
