Citigroup Recent News November 3rd, 2006: Financing Private Equity Deals Citigroup is one of the banks willing to finance Kohlberg Kravis Roberts’s (KKR) $50 billion friendly bid for French music and telecommunications company, Vivendi. November 3rd, 2006: Change in Pension Management In a move consistent with other big corporations like HP and IBM, Citigroup plans to stop contributing to its main U.S. pension plan beginning in 2008 and will instead bolster pension plans that employees contribute to. October 27th, 2006: Expansion in Latin America Citigroup acquires Grupo Financiero Uno (“GFU”), the largest credit card issuer in Central America, and its affiliates. The acquisition of GFU, with $2.1 billion in assets, will significantly expand the presence of Citigroup’s Latin America consumer franchise.

October 17th, 2006: International Expansion Citigroup purchases 20% equity position in Turkish bank Akbank for $3.1 billion dollars. Akbank is third largest bank by assets in Turkey and the most profitable one
