  1. We Could Not Live Without Batteries

  2. Most of us really don’t give much thought to batteries, even though they are around us all the time. Sure, you may have a torch for when you take the dog for a walk in the dark, but just how often do you need to buy a new pack of batteries? We may use AA and AAA batteries in a few things, but other than that where else are batteries to be found? Well, just to begin with, you have batteries in your phone. You probably use batteries first thing in the morning when you get up. There’s your alarm clock, and then you have to clean your teeth, using a battery-powered toothbrush. The clock on the kitchen wall that tells you the time runs on a battery. Maybe you have a Bluetooth speaker and a pair of headphones. Need to nip down the road to the paper shop? You have a battery to start your car. Or maybe you use an electric car. Or an electric bike. Given up smoking and taken up vaping? Good on you. You still need a battery in the vape. Most men use an electric shaver. Got a smoke alarm? Boot up your laptop and use a mouse? Both have batteries. Gone a little deaf and use a hearing aid?

  3. A Power Generator Switched over to using a generator to power your home? It saves money on electricity bills, but you need a battery to start the generator. You’re beginning to get the picture. Wecouldn’t operate in the 21st century without batteries. They are, of course, used in electric or hybrid cars. They are used in forklift trucks that Amazon uses to pick your order off the shelves. They are used in large items such as cranes for building contracts, and for offloading goods brought to the UK by ship. A very early manufacturer of batteries was the Italian company Ravioli which was originally named Elettrotelemeccanica and founded in Milan in 1926 by one Umberto Ravioli. His sons Alessandro and Gianfranco changed the name in 1949. Today, Ravioli manufactures a huge range of electrical devices including Ravioli batteries for the lifting industry. Ravioli batteries are found in all sorts of other things as well. They are constructed using the finest materials, so that they are incredibly reliable. After all, the last thing that you need is a battery that doesn’t work – especially when you are 250 feet up in the air operating a large tower crane!
