Health in the Northern Dimension Area • Health gaps in the Northern Dimension region that must be adequately addressed • Health impact with far reaching consequences for the demographic, political, economic and social development of our region • Regional cooperation therefore plays an important role

NDPHS - Mission and Priorities • Promoting healthy and socially rewarding lifestyles • Preventing the spread of major communicable diseases • Towards a greater political and adminstrative coherance in Northern Europe • Narrowing social and economic differences • General improvement of people’s quality of life

  7. Towards meeting the NDPHS objectives • Different national models/systems within NDPHS partner countries on how to tackle health-related problems • Need for streamlining public health activities: (1) Policy development (2) Implementation

Examples of recent Achievements (1) Policy development: • NDPHS Strategy Healthy Life – Healthy Work • First Strategy for the Northern Dimension Region on Health • Based on ND Policy documents and WHO, ILO and EU Strategies on Workers’ Health • Joint effort of NDPHS Partners and many NDPHS Experts

Examples of recent Achievements (2) Projects/added value for the region • NDPHS Pipeline in place • Project pipeline channels over 4.5 Million EUR for health projects in NW-Russia and Belarus annually • NDPHS Database • Over 1000 records • Past and ongoing projects • A networking place • Concrete projects developed, monitored or implemented by the 4 NDPHS Expert Groups

Final remarks • Solid foundation established • NDPHS - well equipped to facilitate the efforts of the ND Partners in Health • NDPHS - ready to share experiences and and expertise • Evaluation for a fresh look • NDPHS to promote Regional cooperation for a healthy and steady growth in the ND Region
