  1. Road to GraduationGraduation is just the beginning….. At Midland ISD, it’s our mission to prepare you for life after high school. It’s a mission that starts in kindergarten and doesn’t end until you have that diploma in your hands. We want to provide you with the support you need to stay on the road to graduation!

  2. Every course in high school counts as a credit. You can earn half of a credit each semester. • You must earn a 70 or higher for credit. • You must retake any classes you fail. • Attendance Policy- students must be in attendance 90% of the time to earn credit regardless of their grade in the class. • All Students need a combination of core & elective credits to graduate. Credits & Attendance The #1 Reason for Students dropping out of high school: They missed too many days of school!!!! Don’t let that be you!!!!

  3. Graduation Plans Available to All Students Foundation High School Program A flexible graduation program that allows students to pursue their interests. The program contains up to four parts: • A 22-credit foundation program which is the core of the new Texas high school diploma • Five endorsement options that allow students to focus on a related series of courses • A higher performance category called Distinguished Level of Achievement • Performance Acknowledgments that note outstanding achievement

  4. How Many Credits? If you have… you are a… • 6 credits-Sophomore • 12 credits-Junior • 18 credits-Senior • Graduate 26 Foundation + Endorsement

  5. Students can also add Performance Acknowledgements to their graduation plan. Colleges base much of their decisions on admittance from these higher academic classes and scores.

  6. 16 Career Clusters or Pathways: All 6th Graders are given a Career Interest Inventory to help them find their top 3 Career Clusters.

  8. This is an example of the CTE Elective Course Sheet that shows the various electives & coherent sequences available to you in the 5 Endorsement areas. You will receive a copy of this during registration in order to help you pick the appropriate classes for your endorsement electives.
