Accreditation • Institutional level • Higher Learning Commission (AQIP – Academic Quality Improvement Program) • Iowa Department of Education • Program level • Many programs are accredited, including: • Nursing (Iowa Board of Nursing) • Automotive Technology (National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence ) • Concurrent Enrollment (National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships) – (have applied) • EMS (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education)

  3. Iowa Department of Education • Comprehensive visit (every 10 years) • Interim visits (every 5 years) • Last comprehensive visit April, 2010 • Next visits: 2016 (interim)2021 (comprehensive)

  4. AQIPAcademic Quality Improvement Program • Accepted in 2006 • Cabinet has oversight • Ongoing continuous improvement as demonstrated by cyclical activities

AQIP, cont. • Annually: Update progress on action projects • Every 4 years: 100 page Systems Portfolio • Submitted first one June, 2009, received feedback in September, 2009 • Feedback report: no major issues, just “opportunities for improvement” • Will be addressing these issues • Next one due 2013 • Every 7 years: Quality Checkup visit & Reaffirmation (2014)

  6. Action Projects • Improvement projects demonstrating continuous improvement – data driven • 3 required at all times • Annual updates to the HLC • Current projects: • Academic rigor • IT disaster recovery • Assessment of student learning

  7. Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) • Ongoing employee training in continuous improvement and systems • Team tackles an issue or question using CPI tools • Define & analyze the process (data driven) • Develop improvement plan • Implement and study the results
