  4. Connecting people with knowledge • Information needs and gaps • Audience and user profiles • Content development and quality • Content Development Group • Knowledge Platform

  5. Content Development Group • To ensure that PHE has high quality, systematic and comprehensive content development and management processes in place in order to meet user requirements for all types of content through the PHE portal. • To ensure an explicit, consistent and systematic system for sourcing and delivering content, based on the supply of knowledge provided by PHE and partner organisations, and other national agencies and information providers. • To develop documentation to ensure that content development methodologies are made explicit and transparent • To develop and advise on a consistent approach to content categorisation, taxonomies and metadata standards, in liaison with the Online Services workstream • To provide a mechanism for liaison with key partners such as NHS Evidence and NHS Choices

  6. Knowledge platform • Portal project part of Infrastructure workstream • AKM will feed in to user needs and requirements, content development, taxonomy etc • Will report indirectly to I&I Working Group

  7. Web portal PID During transition year, the project will focus on ensuring continued access is available to existing resources and will be achieved through the following objectives • Develop a single, accessible, user focused and authoritative web-based evidence site for professionals, to make evidence easily available to all and to encourage the use of best evidence in practice. • Provision of a single, trusted source of information directly to the public, particularly during incidents and emergencies, as well as supporting individuals to make informed lifestyle choices. • Rationalisation of existing publicly accessible sender organisation websites and related tools with a view to providing a more concise set of PHE online resources. • Develop an editorial and content development strategy to ensure that different types of information products and services are clearly defined, scoped and managed.

  8. Cont … • Provision of a consistent and cost effective online publishing mechanism and associated technical services such as messaging that satisfy the technical publishing requirements of PHE corporate and local business units. • To utilise a common online identity for PHE with consistent provision & presentation of public health data, professional guidance, public facing content and other content for end users, that is consistent with government policy. • To build comprehensive information architecture and search function for the new PHE web site that will allow users to navigate to content & services through usable & accessible pathways. • Develop a suite of key guidance documents covering Online Services, including: governance; strategy; policy; processes and standards. Appropriate content criteria and standards will be developed to ensure quality and relevance, based on an evidence-based approach.
