  4. Reading: Afghanistan photos • What is the article about? Why is this an issue? • What other events referenced in the article have made the United States’ mission in Afghanistan difficult? • What does this story illustrate about the costs / consequences of war?

  5. Photos: 2 Sides • Read the articles about the competing views over the photos. Which side do you agree with? Why? • Was the LA Times right or wrong to publish these photos? • What questions about American freedoms during wartime does this issue raise?
