  1. An ultimate guide for buying the right drywall materials If you’re in the market for drywall supplies, it can be confusing figuring out what to look for in the market because there are so many different types of drywall materials on the market today. Here are some points that will give a grounding in choosing the inch-perfect drywall materials wisely. 1. Lath and Gypsum Board When deciding between lath and gypsum board, look at how much work you plan on doing. If your project is large or requires high-quality results, consider hiring a professional drywall installer who will use lath or plasterboard. On the other hand, if you're looking to save money by doing it yourself, opt for gypsum board. CTS building Supplies offers both types of boards. 2. Joint Compound To fill cracks and seams, you’ll need joint compound. Buy ready-made joint compound if you plan on doing a lot of drywall work; it’s less expensive than buying separate bags of sand and cement. Just remember to mix them together before using! 3. Sheets and Panels If you’re going to be doing a lot of drywall installation, you may want to invest in sheets and panels. Panels are much less expensive than sheets but each panel weighs more than a standard sheet, which means more effort is required from your end when it comes time to handle them. The other downside is that they tend not to be available at your local hardware store and will need to be bought directly from a supplier. 4. Screws When shopping for drywall contractors, you’ll come across two basic categories of screws: deck screws and self-tapping screws. The difference between them is that self-tapping screws have their own threading. They require no predrilling or pre-boring, which makes them great if you’re installing hardware yourself. On the other hand, deck screws are used when something has already been mounted to a surface—like drywall—and will be screwed into it again.
