  2. ACPD Vision 2023 The Family Reunification Program is directly aligned with the Alameda County Probation Department’s Vision of making our communities the safest in the nation:

  3. Family Reunification Program Definition of Family: biological and non-biological connections, friends, church members and other pro social associates and support networks.

  4. Why Family Reunification Matters? Bridging Group Study* • Surveyed 1134 incarcerated individuals in Alameda County. • 878 individuals reported they were parents or primary caregivers of children under the age of 25 years. • Families are the primary resource for housing and can assist with employment and health needs for formerly incarcerated loved ones. *Kramer, K. and the Children of Incarcerated Parents Jail Survey Teams.   5. Housing with family members is the option formerly incarcerated persons are most likely to use in both the short and long term.* Family Reunification Program Goal: The goal of the Family Reunification Program is to aid clients in assimilating back into their families and the community and to reduce recidivism. Service: The goal is to be accomplished by providing supportive services to clients and their families, through concrete services, behavioral therapy, workshops, legal services, and programming that promotes family reunification. *Fontaine, J., & Biess, J.   6. Family Reunification Service Providers & Contract Term • CCP-EC allotted amount: $2,000,000. • Cumulative contract amount: $741,999. • Balance $1,258,001 (re-release in Fall 2019). • Contract Terms: 1 year contract with option to extend up to 2 additional years.

Specific Program Offerings • Pre & Post Release Services • Concrete Services • Cognitive Behavior Therapy • Lived Experience Mentors • Parenting & Relationship Classes • Child Visitation Support • Mediation Services • Barrier Removal Between 48 and 62 percent of returning prisoners slept at a relative’s house on their first night out of prison.* *Fontaine, J., & Biess, J.   8. SERVICE DELIVERY MODEL

Program Referral Process • Clients shall be referred to the program by ACPD. • Service providers shall conduct outreach and identify potential program participants. • Potential clients identified by service providers must verify clients eligibility through ACPD prior to referral. • Referrals shall be submitted to service provider via Tyler Supervision/CaseloadPro.

Family Reunification Program Marketing ACPD Internal Family Reunification Program Marketing: • Email Communication from Deputy Chief Probation Officer; • Established Office Hours at ACPD Oakland and Hayward Locations; • Family Reunification Program Info Displayed on Monitor(s); • Collaboration with Santa Rita Jail In-custody Deputy Probation Officer; • Nexus with Pathways Home Project.
