The Institute of Water’s Approach to CPD • CPD is at the heart of the Institute – it’s our reason for being • All corporate members are expected to undertake CPD • It is a key requirement of all professional registrations we award • The Institute has a CPD Code that explains our expectations of members and the Institute’s commitment.   8. Registration Authorities’ Expectations for CPD Clear expectation of CPD, with development plan, reflection and evaluation. Expectation Institution will monitor in a supportive way. Expectation of participation in CPD and that institutions will monitor, although approach not prescribed. CPD is an absolute requirement. Scientists must affirm CPD participation annually. The Institute’s annual CPD monitoring exercise • 13 pairs of assessors (Each registrant will have at least one assessor of the same discipline) • Each pair will receive up to 5 CPD submissions plus a copy of the form • Please return a single completed form for each submission to Sarah (Sarah@instituteofwater.org.uk ) by 15 March • Get in touch if any problems!   25. How Will CPD Records be Provided? We don’t specify as long as it is clear. The Institute’s CPD tool is a great way for members to record their CPD and is recommended because it encourages a best practice approach. But it’s not the only way and other methods are acceptable.   26. How Will CPD Records be Provided? We don’t specify as long as it is clear. We are aware the portal doesn’t currently contain sections to demonstrate all elements of the CPD assessment form. What about the CPD portal? In the letter to members inviting them to submit it was suggested they might like to include a development plan as well as access to the portal. Providing members with feedback is an important part of the monitoring process. • It helps people improve and ensures that members get something positive back from the process. • Please try to give both positive and negative feedback that is specific, meaningful and diplomatic! • We’d like to provide the feedback you give on the form directly to members.
