  2. The Mission of the NRC-CWDT The mission of the National Resource Center for Child Welfare Data and Technology is to assist States, Courts and Tribes with their use of data and technology to improve outcomes for children and families.

  3. Services Provided by the NRC-CWDT • The NRC-CWDT Provides On-site Technical Assistance, for Example: • Detailed AFCARS Data Analysis • Detailed Analysis of the State Data Profile • Analysis of existing state reports • Facilitation of meetings with State Program Staff to develop local solutions • Detailed TA of Child Welfare programs to extract meaningful data for program improvement

  10. How can the NATIONAL RESOURCE CENTER for CHILD WELFARE DATA AND TECHNOLOGY help Adoption Managers?

By assisting States in identifying and correcting data related to the number of finalized adoptions in relation to Adoption Incentives. • By assisting States to identify errors in AFCARS that may affect data used in the Child and Family Services Reviews, including calculations of the states comparison with the national standards.

  12. By assisting in developing additional measures the State may want to track. • By assisting States in analyzing data trends.

  13. By assisting in the development of reports that will give information needed--for the agency to determine the outcomes for children being served--to you for planning and monitoring your program--and to the field in order to manage and monitor their work. • By assisting in identifying management units—supervisory groups, counties, districts, or regions that are performing well or that may have challenges and need help.

  14. The NRC-CWDT can help you and/or your agency in analyzing data in areas such as: • Permanency: Who is achieving permanency? When? What kind of permanency are they achieving? • Is it lasting? • Permanency goals: Are permanency goals being achieved timely and accurately? • If not, why?

  15. Recruitment and Retention of Adoptive/Foster Homes: Looking at such factors as the location of kids coming into care; the demographics of kids coming into care and the needs of kids in care so that you can recruit foster/adoptive homes that will meet these children’s needs. • Better matching of children and foster homes will also improve retention of foster homes.
