  1. World's 2011 Suggestions For Strategic Development Team Meeting on July 7th, 2010 Master Greg Moody 1

  2. Goals For Changes • Any changes should be to: • To make it exciting for owners • Inspire them for the reminder of the year • Get owners to come in earlier for worlds • To participate in more events • Make events directly valuable to owner or instructor

  3. Suggestions • Offer ProTechCertifications regionally and have multiple 1 hour refresher/intro courses on EVERY ProTech course • Improves ProTech distribution and allows for updating worlds schedule. • Change Worlds Schedule • Per alternate schedule options attached • Use Worlds as a Pre-Sell Opportunity • Worlds should promote all divisions and present opportunities for sales for year.

  4. Suggestion 1: ProTech Schedule • Problems: • It’s near impossible for an Owner/Instructor to get all certifications in. • To get 18 seminars in, even if they took 5 certifications per year, it would take over 3 years to get them all in… at which point their certification is expired unless they all go to ProTech camp. • Regions don’t offer enough of them and when they DO, they are often poorly attended.

  5. Suggestion 1: ProTech Schedule • Solution #1: Active Scheduling • Have all Certifications regionally scheduled so that all courses are offered within a 2 year period within region or adjacent region. • Similar to SuccessKit and Training Division seminars – in fact the same reps can call and schedule all of them. • We can provide a standard marketing packet for all of them – often the owners are making up their own flyers and promoting themselves – we should promote. • Marketing Packet • Emails to Owners in region and adjacent region • Reps can include these in calls

  6. Suggestion 1: ProTech Schedule • Solution #2: Worlds / Nationals Seminars • ProTech Courses are taught at worlds in 60 to 90 minute Recertifying/Intro Courses over one day. • Attendees: • If you have certified, then you can refresh with a course • If you know the form but haven’t certified, you can also take the course but don’t get any certification. • If it’s new to you then you can learn the basics. • Charge $50 each, $199 for as many as you want or include in Instructor Conference Registrations. • Alternate – include in small increase in license fees • EVERY Course will push for registration in the local CERTIFICATION course. If they register here they get it for $199, otherwise the price goes up to $249 or other discount. • A variety of merchandise is available related to classes

  7. Suggestion #2: Worlds Schedule • Start the year at the end of the current TOURNAMENT year • Have Worlds 2012 planned before Worlds 2011 • Start and end with keynote speaker • Bring external speaker (Clinton, Gene Simmons, Tony Robbins) for Tuesday • Either external speaker or Chief Master Clark for pre-planned motivational exit keynote. This might be appropriate for students too. • Some coursed (Year Planning) are for ALL instructors. • Start worlds - for instructors - on Tuesday (or Wednesday)

  8. Suggestion #2: Worlds Schedule • New Schedule – 2 Events: • International Instructor Conference (IIC) • Tuesday - Thursday (to exit keynote) • World Championships • Thursday - Sunday

  9. Suggestion #2: Worlds Schedule • Two distinctive events Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday - Sunday World Championships

  10. Suggestion #2: Worlds Schedule • Alternate 1 day LESS: Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday - Sunday World Championships

  11. Suggestion #2: Worlds Schedule • Pricing: • Build the pricing as one cost for International Instructor Conference • Example: $399 • Get package of whatever WMA wants to promote, notebook for training, coupon for sales of WMA/SCS etc... • Signed book from keynote speaker • Income $399 X 250 (total from seminars and protech 2010) = $100,000 • Premiums • For schools with > 100 new members they get picture with keynote speaker / grand master • Schools > 150 new members get _____________ • Top schools get ______________

  12. Suggestion #2: Worlds Schedule • Keys: • Theme: Could be based on the theme from Leadership Camp… it starts at Worlds, continues at Leadership Camp and changes at First Keynote. • First Keynote speaker doesn’t have to be really expensive, but should be interesting. Some I have heard who were really good: • Rudy (the guy from the movie), Gene Simmons, Tony Robbins (At MAIA last year I understood he came for free – because he could promote his seminars) • First seminar should be for everyone – designed to motivate to perform all year. Maybe starting year right… • Can encourage attendance by leadership points or other benefits (discounts on package including tournament, etc.) • Final seminar / Keynote should reinforce theme & motivate.

  13. Suggestion 3: Worlds to Pre-Sell • Worlds is the greatest concentration of our customers (though Nationals are huge too) • Prior to Worlds 2011 we should plan promotions at Worlds from every division • These don’t have to be discounts – they can any way to get the division more business or better exposure. • Examples (these should be during tournament time): • WMA: does sell but we can probably expand on marketing the items. On the tournament floor there is zero promotion. • ATA School Ops: have a table promoting school development. Reps can discuss new school options with instructors, owners can talk to staff about business questions • Tournament Dept: Maybe “How to run an in-school tournament” or “Marketing your Tournament” would increase tournament income • Sell and promote ALL upcoming seminars, ProTech, business, instruction, etc… • And….

  14. Suggestion 3: Worlds to Pre-Sell • Key: Tournament participants are more likely to participate in other tournaments and events. Therefore we should… • SELL Fall, Black Belt and Spring Nationals • This will INCREASE tournament participation! • If people register at Worlds for a small discount or premium, they will attend the other event… if we wait till later they can easily find reasons not to attend the other event… • Can also register for other ATA events/seminars over the year • Perhaps an owner can allow ATA to register for a regional tournament and ATA gets a $5 per registration commission.

  15. Conclusions • Redesigning ProTech scheduling will… • Get more instructors certified (more availability locally) • Get more participation in more events at National Events • Worlds can sell the local events • Redesigning Worlds Schedule will… • Make the International Instructor Conference more exciting • Make more income from pre-events • Make it much easier to handle registrations, etc… • Pre-Sales at Worlds will… • Make more money for each division • Encourage new school development (ATA School Ops) • Increase attendance at all other events
