  2. Make sure: • The majority of your paper (80%) should be your own words. • The quotations and paraphrases are only used as support of what you are saying. • Do Not copy and paste entire paragraphs into your paper. • If you have a lengthy piece of information, paraphrase it into your own words and still document the original source.

  3. Citations • Remember to EMBED your quotes within your sentences. No naked quotes. • The citation comes at the end of the sentence that contains the quote / paraphrase. • Example: Drawing from his experience of fighting for civil rights peacefully, Martin Luther King Jr. stated, “a riot is the language of the unheard,” as he continued his quest of nonviolent action (Davis).

  4. Citations • Citations with an author: • (Author’s name and page number). • (Davis 64). • (Author’s name and no page number) • (Davis). • Citations without an author • (First significant word of the title of the article / book) • Magazine, journal, newspaper article: (“Legendary”) • Book (Hopeful)

  5. Works Cited Page • All sources used in your paper MUST be on the works cited page. • Your sources need to be in alphabetical order by author’s last name or title of article / book.
