Samoa • For a comprehensive lesson about “Using Multimedia in the Classroom: A Guide for Teachers” • Please click this link: http://www.mesc.gov.ws/pdf/Multimedia_Teacher_Guide.pdf

  3. What are the components of a multimedia project? • 1. Images • (Graphs, photos, maps, pictures, drawings) • 2. Text • (Captions, written info) • 3. Sound • (Voice, music, sound effects) • 4. Motion • (Animation, videos, moving • transitions) • 5. Interactivity • (buttons, hyperlinks)

  4. Importance of Interactive Multimedia in Education • Multimedia materials are being used for instructional purposes in schools and even in private sectors. Also it is proven to support teaching style of teachers and complement the lessons, hence, increasing learning comprehension. • Students’ interaction are heightened because they are able to be “part” of the lesson. Computers, sounds, movies are all fun! When students enjoy more, they learn more. • Apart from learning the lesson, students also learn the dynamics of multimedia preparation and presentation such as communication, computer and internet, creativity and other cognitive and behavioural dimensions. • One of the main driving forces of the creation of computer, internet and multimedia components is the establishment and development of distance and open universities. • The theory of Situated Learning by Brown, Collins and Duguid (1989b) states that “the notion of learning knowledge and skills in contexts that reflect the way the knowledge will be useful in real life' (p. 2). As such, situated learning has implications not only for classroom practice, but also for the design of interactive multimedia.”
