  2. Where was the treaty of Waitangi signed? When? And by who? It was signed at the treaty house in Waitangi on the 6th of February in 1840. About 40 chiefs signed the Treaty of Waitangi. By the end of the year, about 500 other Maori, including 13 women, had put their names or moko to the treaty. All but 39 signed the Maori text. Some people chose not to sign the treaty at all because they didn’t understand the Maori text.

  3. What relationship did the Māori and British have? (in 1840) The Maori and British had a good relationship. Mostly because the Maori wanted to get close to Queen Victoria and the British crown (royal family). The Maori thought they would get to meet the queen and would be on the British good side. The Maori didn’t actually like the British, they were just pretending.

  4. What is the relationship like now? The relationship is good now. The Maori and British settled their differences. They gathered and took each others nations as one.

  5. What does it mean to be a monarchy? A monarchy is a ruler. It is a role by a King or Queen as the head of the government. It is an important role. Being a monarchy is being in charge and leading.

  6. What is a commonwealth? A commonwealth is A commonwealth is a community of people. A country or community  A group/ingof countries or other bodies.

  7. How does Britain look after New Zealand? A British commonwealth take care of NZ. People from the British Educational Suppliers Association have come here (NZ) to help NZ to set up for a similar organisation.
