  3. Objectives • To relate the subject to the environment and focus on the development of thinking and reasoning skills. • To enable them to understand mathematical concepts and use them effectively. • To help to develop problem solving skills with logical and lateral thinking.

  4. To appreciate the usefulness and applicability of the subject in real life situations and also to explore its relationship with other subjects. • To foster a positive attitude among children and encourage them to enjoy and value math as a subject. • Children who fear the subject due to its abstract concept; develop a liking for it, as it is made exciting, challenging and fun filled.

Evaluation criteria • Evaluation is an ongoing/continuous process and is based on child’s performance in the class and the level of development achieved in various mathematical skills. • The child’s interaction in the class, classwork, homework, performance in class tests, periodic assessments are all considered while grading a child’s performance. • Class tests are conducted by the teachers concerned in their respective classes, as and when the units are covered.

  11. true education begins at home. • Work done in class needs to be reinforced at home too. • It is an earnest request to you dear parents to keep in touch with what’s happening in class every day. This can be done by giving your child a patient ear. • Give them some quality time every day. • Encourage your child to collect, make and solve riddles, puzzles, and quizzes. Gift them games that involve numbers.
