  1. The Pancakes and Eggs PrincipleDenise M. Dunckley, President “Women are like teabags. We don't know our true strength until we are in hot water!” ~ Nancy Reagan

  2. Nine Success Lessons • Work hard • Make yourself indispensible • Calculate everything • Nervousness is expected • Believe in yourself • Share knowledge • Use Heart Knowledge • Passion is contagious • The Pancake and Eggs Principle

  3. Work Hard • It’s not a cliché. • Appreciation of hard work is remembered. • You can earn it, store it, and reap the benefits of cashing it in later. • Not everyone is in the position to make their careers a number one priority– but if you give your work 150% attention during the hours you can, the benefits will come.

  4. Make Yourself Indispensible • Look passed the obvious • The Karate Principle • Build a reputation for making striking changes! • ‘No’ is not an option “In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different.”~ Coco Chanel

  5. Calculate Everything When thinking outside the box, you must also: • Predict, analyze, calculate… • Focus groups aren’t just for professionals! • Comparative data • Return On Investment • Afterwards – trust your instinct!

  6. Expect Nervousness • Whether you’re throw in or go in… try new things • Nervousness often leads to ingenuity and builds determination • “I do my best work under pressure!” • Repeated success will alleviate fear “Become so wrapped up in something that you forget to be afraid.” -- Lady Bird Johnson

  7. Believe In Yourself • Success is within all of our grasps • At our core levels, we are all smart, capable women • Every problem has a solution • Find the expert, over and over again… • Become the go-to problem solver “Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent.”  ~Eleanor Roosevelt

  8. Share Knowledge • When you find a solution, be willing to share your expertise • Being indispensible does not mean hording knowledge • Real job security comes from being known as the expert • To be given (not earned) a promotion means your second in command is ready to take your spot!

  9. Use Heart Knowledge • Keep in mind, being rudely right isn’t always rewarded • Put a stake in the ground, but do so with unflinching poise and grace • Controlled fervor has it’s place!

  10. Passion is Contagious • BE PASSIONATE about what you do • People connect with enthusiasm • Strategize on ways to create new passion in your work Pursue the things you love doing, and do them so well that people can't take their eyes off you. ~ Maya Angelou

  11. Pancakes and Eggs • Why did I start Striking Changes, LLC? • Success is the decision to seize the day –– everyday. • So, does success come more easily to some than to others?
