  2. The AncientsOnly a miracle can save our planet…that’s where you come in

  3. The Main Idea Modern civilization has nearly exhausted the world’s resources; the planet is in terrible shape, with most of its land either covered by cities or dried up and lifeless because of pollution. As the main character (with supernatural powers), you’re the only thing that can save humanity from extinction, and the natural world from destruction.

  4. Budget and Platform - $100,000 for Research & Development includes concept art and some game level design. - $500,000 budget for full production - Playable on the next generation of consoles (maybe just PS4) - It’s a single-player game, with co-op availability for two players. -The game is entirely 3D, allowing the player to explore freely -Significant software design would be needed to allow the changes you make to the game environment to be recorded as the game progresses further

  5. Overview It is the 24thcentury, 300 years from now on. Modern civilization has severed all ties to the natural world. Big cities have spread across entire countries, leaving the surrounding terrain dry and cracked for miles. City people depend on genetically engineered organisms for nutrition, while outsiders are left to survive on wild animals in the desert. Your job as the main character is to restore balance between the human race and nature.

  6. The Main Story We are not the sole survivors of the homo genus. Our long-forgotten sibling species, Homo Concordiae - A higher intelligence on Earthwent into hiding over 3000 years ago, following a genocide that nearly wiped out their entire race. These people possess an extraordinary connection to nature that enables them to take on the abilities of other life forms between generations (controlled, accelerated evolution). With the human population increasing ever more quickly and the forces of nature dwindling, it is time for us to be reminded of their power. As the last of this race, it’s up to you to save the world.

  7. The Character You are the last of your species (besides your dying elders). This species has branched out from the human race long ago (back in the times of Stonehenge and other megalithic structures). This species is extremely close to nature, having the ability to connect with any life force. Although this race has been around almost as long as humans, they have stayed hidden from us for ages in secluded regions of wilderness and eventually in one big underground temple. They live for nearly three hundred years, and have documented thousands of years of history. A small group of humans has lived with this species inside the temple ever since they went into hiding, serving them as disciples. They were once known to humanity as spiritual guides, teaching us to use technology and creativity, but past events led to a genocide that sent the survivors into secrecy. Their culture would be mostly based on what we have discovered about megaliths and the people of those times.

  8. The Main Objective As one of the last of the Ancients (Homo Concordiae), you (the main character) must learn to work with the energy inside all living things (known as Qi, Prana, Lüng, mana, or Vital energy). This is the basis of your race’s powers, allowing you to interact with plants, animals, fungi, etc. (most of the gameplay, even combat, involve these powers) Using these powers, you must stop the spread of modern civilization and restore the natural world to health.

  9. Humanity is almost entirely industrialized

  10. Nature struggles to adapt to harsh conditions

  11. Huge, smoggy cities spread across the land

  12. Hordes of bandits ride around outside the urban areas (on motorcycles, dune-buggies, ATVs), raiding any villages/settlements to be found.

  13. Only a few small groups of people still coexist with nature, hidden in the types of landscape that are inaccessible to vehicles and buildings. (Mountains, swamps, thick rainforests, etc.)

  14. Most of the land in the world is dry (cracked mud, shrivelled trees)

  15. The ocean has risen just enough for some changes in geography.Certain countries divided into islands, Europe and Asia possibly divided again. Fresh water is nearly all used up or contaminatedwith chemical waste (small, odd-coloured rivers trail away from the cities into the desert)

  16. The further you go from civilization, the more greenery and wildlife you would see.high contrast between desert colour-schemes and forest/mountain colour schemes)The sky would match the land: heavily inhabited areas with cities and factories would have a thick layer of smog overhead, while areas full of nature would have beautiful blue skies

  17. In healthy green land, the wildlife looks very strange because ecosystems have had to adapt very quickly to changes (alienish species, funny-coloured plants, etc.)

  21. Interactive ObjectsWooden staff with orbs of white resin are placed into either end of it

  22. Game play In order to teach the player the basic controls, the game would start inside an egg. The player would have to hatch the main character out of the egg, using the buttons displayed on-screen to break through the shell (blinding light). This would be a practical and very unique way to get the player interested/excited. Once hatched, you would begin the first of 3 main parts to the story: 1. Childhood/Training 2. Adolescence/Exploration 3. Adulthood/Saving the world

  23. -1-The first part would take place almost entirely in your people's ancient underground temple. The monks that served your ancestors teach you everything they were taught, taking you through the Old Lessons: a series of textbooks written to help each generation of your kind in mastering the skills necessary to fufill their role in the world. You would basically be going to school, but to keep it interesting to the player, you wouldn't actually do any reading or writing as gameplay. Instead, this would sort of fit in as a way to show instructions (press (a button) to check your textbook). You would only play through lessons that explain your powers and get you more comfortable with the controls (including combat training). Certain lessons would be puzzles that involved your powers. Any important history lessons would be shown with cutscenes that play when your character lies/sits down to read a book (you could grab one, then go anywhere you want in the temple to "read").By playing this early part of the game, the player gets used to the temple and gets a sense of the main character's whole...well, character. There would be lots of monks around that you would get to know, and some of the kids would follow you around the temple. This would allow you to find your way around easily - you would just have to ask whoever might be walking with you.

  24. The day you finish your lessons, the monks gather around you for your ceremony. You're presented a wooden staff - carved by the monks throughout your childhood - and two perfect orbs made of white resin are placed into either end of it. When you hold the staff in your hand, it glows along its grain all the way to the orbs, lighting the ends of the staff. You recieve a belt that holds 5 of these orbs and possibly a small dagger. These orbs will prove useful later on in the game to activate vehicles, doorways, etc.The morning after your ceremony, you are brought up to ground level by one of the oldest monks and a boy who will accompany you for the beginning of your travels. The entrance to the underground temple lies in the middle of a big garden sanctuary full of statues (in the mountains). Directed by the old monk, you do some final exercises here that prepare you to go out into the world. To open the gate to the garden, you need to place an orb in its center (a hole).

  25. -2-By leaving the garden gate, you and your young monk sidekick have exposed yourselves to the outside world. You must apply what you have learned to help you survive on the surface. Your companion has been given a map and a list of errands that you will complete together throughout this section of the game. For the most part, these missions would require you to travel in search of certain characters that remain loyal to your people. Each of these characters would help you on your way to becoming powerful enough to restore balance to Earth.

  26. Possible examples:-An engineer who works with your people's ancient technology (gives you vehicles & gadgets powered by the white resin orbs)-A martial arts master (helps you improve your fighting skills)-A mountain climber (to guide you through a secret passage)-A guru who understands all living things (he could introduce you to new ways of using your powers to interact with nature)On your way to meeting these people, you would encounter many enemies, relevant to the location (desert bandits & jackals, swamp creatures & dangerous plants, savage mountain-people & wildcats, etc.). To make combat situations more interesting, you would need to protect your little monk friend as you fight together.Your last objective would bring you to a small community in the forest, where you meet a shaman. He directs you towards your final destination, a far-away place where you will contact your ancestors and find out your purpose in life.He insists that you be alone on this journey, so you force your friend from the temple to stay with these people. Your departure (and separation from your companion) marks the beginning of the final part of the game.

  27. An example of the main character’s plant-related powers

  28. Basic progression from location to location

  29. -3-Your journey across the land brings you to a large stone structure like Stonehenge. Here, you place all your white orbs into a circle-formation of slots on the center stone. The whole scene becomes dream-like as your ancestors' spirits reveal all the secrets of your past and give you a full understanding of your existence. Most importantly, they explain that you are not the only one left of your species. There is one other, who was taken from the temple as an egg and raised by normal, city-dwelling humans. They held (him? her?) in a research facility where scientists experimented with his/her powers in search of a new source of energy and/or weapon technology.Growing older and stronger, this "experiment" turned against its captives and enslaved the humans living in the city. Obsessed with the humans' machines, she (I think this would be a more powerful character as a female) has them build her parts to modify and enhance her body. She drives them to expand the factories and general urbanization to help advance their technology.

  30. - Ending -The final task in the game would be to enter the biggest city of all (protected by an energy shield) and to confront your demented relative, in an attempt to put a stop to the choking of mother nature. This would involve epic battles against an army of her machine-enhanced soldiers/workers as you storm into the main building of the city for a final showdown between the last 2 of this species. At some point, your friends from the temple would arrive to help you fight, but now he's much older and stronger. He would arrive with thousands of monks from your home temple, making for a very nice cut scene as they join in the battle.
