  2. The approach.... Una and Redcrosseapproch the castle and hear the dragon roar... Redcrosse confronts the firey beast but his sword glances off its impenetrable hide. The furious dragon lifts Redcrosse and his horse into the air as the knight manages to leave a wound in the dragons wing... Knocked off his horse, Redcrosse stuns the Dragon who lets out a firey burst that burnt the whole field. Burnt, Redcrosse writhes in pain but is fortunately knocked into the ‘Well of Life’ . Una fears for her hero...

  3. The fall of the Dragon... The next morning Redcrosse and his sword returns from the well in better shape than before. They continued to battle and the sharper blade cuts a wound into the dragon’s head. The knight tries to pull out the dragons claws but in the process falls back into a well containing the Sacred Tree... Redcrosse is healed by the tree’s magical power and the dragon is furious to see the return of the knight... The dragon tries to swallow the knight whole but Redcrosse thrusts his sword deep into the dragons throat and the dragon falls to the ground, dead.

  4. The Engagement... Una’s parents are delighted at the defeat of the dragon, the whole land came out to celebrate their new freedom. Redcrosse is expected to marry Una but he claims that he has a six year duty to the Faerie Queene. Una’s father proclaims that after the six years the two will marry. Suddenly a messenger appears with news that Redcrosse has promised his hand to another woman. Redcrosse and Una demand an explanation and discover that the woman was Duessa who won his had by deceit. They also discover that the messenger is indeed, Archimago. The celebrations resume.
