Handling of Cases in the Faculty of Engineering • Teachers and tutors will carry out checking on assignments and course works, sometimes using the anti-plagiarism softwares like VeriGuide and /or MOSS • Teachers/Tutors will collect evidences of the suspected cases and report to the Faculty Disciplinary Committee (FDC) CUHK Engineering Faculty

Handling of Cases in the Faculty of Engineering • FDC will interview the students in question, look into case details, and decide on the penalty if the cases are established. • The penalty scheme adopted by FDC is clearly stated in the Guidelines booklet. • For severe cases, the penalty could be the failing of the whole course, and demerits to be recorded in transcripts.   8. Handling of Cases in the Faculty of Engineering • Repeated offenders will be given at least two demerits. • Students who have received three demerits may be asked to discontinue studies. ! CUHK Engineering Faculty

  9. Academic Honesty Education Programme (AHEP) • Students who have been given reviewable demerits in their disciplinary cases would be offered the option to participate in the AHEP programme. Upon satisfactory completion of the requirements of the AHEP, the demerits may be lifted earlier. • AHEP is designed by FDC to assist students who have committed plagiarism or cheating in exams to reflect on the situation, and to gain a better understanding on how to avoid further entanglements with such misconducts.   10. Academic Honesty Education Programme (AHEP) • AHEP work should be completed within two months after joining the scheme. • Under AHEP, the student will have to work under a teacher supervisor, plan and carry out either education activities or community services, on top of handing in a book report after reading a book/article on ethics.   11. Academic Honesty Education Programme (AHEP) • Good works will be recommended by the supervising teacher to FDC upon its completion. FDC will lift the demerit(s) if work done is up to expectation. CUHK Engineering Faculty
