  2. Purpose of the Workshop • To assist you in your role as Accreditation Liaison Officer • To assist you in making connections with other institutions

  4. Schedule • Morning plenary sessions led by NWCCU Staff • Afternoon sessions according to institutional type: • Four Year Publics • Two Year Publics • Four Year Privates • Materials will be available on our website in a few weeks

  5. Role of Regional Accreditation • Purpose: Quality assurance and continuous improvement • Values: Mission-centered, systemic, meaningful, peer evaluation, simple and sane • National scene • NWCCU Petition to USDOE for continued recognition • It really is about education!

  6. Process Revisions • Elimination of Year Five Report • Evaluation of Standards 3 and 4 in Year Seven Comprehensive • Revision of Year Three as either an offsite or onsite evaluation

  7. Process Revisions • Criterion for Onsite Evaluations • Institution needs to address non-compliance recommendations from previous evaluation • Institution has moved to a higher degree level and that degree is evaluated at the time of the Year Three review • Institution is currently on “FRR” status or recently submitted an FRR • Institution is dealing with issues related to Standard 2.A (Governance) • Institution is addressing ongoing issues of continuing critical concern to the Commission • Institution requests a visit with the evaluation

  8. Policy Revisions • Public Notification Policy • In accord with 2009 USDOE regulation revisions • Seeking more disclosure • Added website information under “Directory of Institutions” • “Recent Commission Actions”

  9. Policy Revisions • Appeals Policy • Revised in accordance with 2009 USDOE regulation revisions • Appeals Board has (again) final authority in an appeal • Conflict of Interest Policy • Now includes Appeals Board

  10. Policy Revisions • Credit Hour Policy • USDOE Regulation • Institution must have a credit hour policy • Evaluated in Year Three Self Evaluation • Outline process of evaluating practice in the light of the policy • Provide credit hour audit data if available
