  2. Location • The Obelisks were built in Ancient Egypt. • The structures do not have a specific year when they were built. • Most of the Obelisks are still in tact and have been moved around the world for public display.

  3. Purpose • The Obelisks were built by Ancient Egyptians. • The Egyptians believed that if your name was not written down some where you would be forgotten. • Important leaders or extremely wealthy people in ancient Egypt would have the Obelisks built for them and have their name and life story carved in them.

  4. Uniqueness • The smallest Obelisk found was 70 feet tall • The Obelisks were built from stone and red marble. • Each one was hand carved.

  5. Ancient Foresight • The Washington Monument is an Obelisk in every way except for it being 555 feet tall. • It is not One of the Seven Wonders of the world.
