  2. What is Fitness? What is one word that comes to your mind when you think about... FITNESS

  3. Fitness is... -the ability to go about with normal, daily activities with strength and energy, and not get tired too quickly. -fitness is important because...

  4. Cardiovascular Fitness (heart and lung fitness) the ability of the heart andlungs to supply oxygen-rich blood to the working muscle tissues and the ability of the muscles to use oxygen to produce energy for movement. EXAMPLES?

  5. This type of fitness is a health-related component of physical fitness that is brought about by sustained physical activity • Swimming • Cycling • Jogging • Aerobic conditioning

  6. Muscular Strength the amount of force a muscle can exert in a single contraction. EXAMPLES?

  7. WHY do we need strong muscles?? ideas?

  8. THIS is why... -muscular atrophy - joint pain - general health

  9. Strength Training • Bench Press • Leg Press • Bicep Curls

  10. Muscular Endurance the ability of a muscle to do continuous work over a long period of time EXAMPLES?

  11. Strength training with low weight & low reps • Cycling • Step Machines • Sit ups

  12. Flexibility refers to the range of movement in a joint or of joints, and length in muscles that cross the joints. Flexibility varies between people, especially in differences in muscle length in muscles which cross several joints. EXAMPLES?

  13. Lunge • Sit and Reach • Yoga • Pilates • Stretching

  14. Body Composition used to describe the percentages of fat, bone and muscle in human bodies. Because muscular tissue takes up less space in our body than fat tissue, our body composition is just as important as our weight. EXAMPLES?

  15. Everyone needs body fat to be healthy. The problem is when we have too much or too little.
