  3. What is a budget? A budget is an estimate of income and expenditure for a set period of time.

Budgets • Necessary to be realistic in spending • Keeps people organized • Help people know where they are spending money & making sure it is places they want to be spending at • Reduces impulse shopping • Can start a savings program • Reduces stress, because you will know how much you have to spend

  5. The Importance of Staying within Budget ∙ will not go into debt ∙ aligns priorities ∙ be more confident in spending ∙ money will be valued as a tool ∙ grows savings ∙ demonstrates responsibility

  6. Benefits of Saving ∙ can give a positive goal for the family ∙gives a “cushion” ∙ less stress
