  10. ACHIEVEMENTS SO FAR • 415 CHILDREN REUNITED WITH THEIR FAMILIES AND SUPPORTED • DATABASE OF CHILDREN IN INSTITUTIONS • DRAFTED FORSTER CARE REGULATIONS • 5 ORPHANAGES LICENSED • 15 ORPHANAGES CLOSED DOWN • 256 SOCIAL WORKERS TRAINED • PROPRIETORS OF ORPHANAGES SENSITIZED

  11. CHILD PROTECTION TEAMS • COMMUNITY BASED VOLUNTARY ASSOCIATIONS • 650 COMMUNITIES IN NORTHERN GHANA • ORGANIZED AND SUPERVISED BY DSW&CD • ANTI-TRAFFICKING, EARLY MARRIAGES, FGM,MIGRATION • OTHER CHILD PROTECTION ISSUES

NPA FOR OVC • THE NPA IS 3 YEAR PLAN • CATALYST FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF RIGHTS • PREVENTION GOAL: OVCs ARE SUPPORTED TO LIVE WITH THEIR FAMILIES THROUGH SOCIAL PROTECTION INTERVENTIONS, IMPROVEMENTS IN HEALTH AND ECCD SERVICES • PROTECTIVE: TO PROTECT CHILDREN WHO HAVE FALLEN THROUGH AND HELP THEM RETURN TO FAMILY BASED CARE • TRANSFORMATIVE: INPROVING THE CAPACITY OF STATE AND OTHER STAKEHOLDERS TO PROMOTE THE RIGHTS AND WELLBEING OF CHILDREN

OPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES • THE MAIN CHALLENGE FOR LEAP IS INSTITUTIONAL CAPACITY • FOR THE CRI: • CHANGING HEARTS AND MINDS(PHILANTHROPY,SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES, RELIGION, donors) • FOSTER CARE AND TRADITION -COMMUNITY CARE IS DIFFICULT -DESIGNING RULES &REGULATIONS, MANAGING THE DATABASE, INTRODUCING NEW LEGISLATION
