  4. Status of Report Reduction Effort (continued) Action Taken: Created Three Lists of Reports: Reports that can be eliminated immediately Reports that should be eliminated through a “sunset” process Reports that should be retained (short list!)

Senate Bill 5 – Zaffirini/Branch Article 6 – Reports; Records; Audits; Notices Section 6.03 – Expiration of certain reporting requirements for higher education on September 1, 2013, unless specifically required by 83rd Legislature (“sunset”). Article 9 - Repealer Section 9.01 – Lists specific reports repealed as of September 1, 2011.

  6. Senate Bill 1179 – Nelson/Harper-Brown Section 25 – Repeals Specific Report Legislation

Report Reduction Highlights SB 1179 – Reports Repealed, effective 9/1/2011 Small Class Report, Crime Statistics Report, Report on Doctoral Programs, Matching Scholarship Report, etc SB 5 – Exempts Higher Education, effective 9/1/2011 Non-Financial Report, Annual Debt Report, Consultant Contract Notification, General Contracts over $14K, etc REVISIONS - Legislative Appropriations Request (LAR) – LBB, Governor, and institutions to review and improve LAR.
