  1. Foundation production Magazine planning Chantell Adams 12 Angela

  2. Proposal • For my coursework I have decided to do my magazine on the genre reggae. I chose this genre because i would love to do more research on it and i believe that this genre has a lot to offer for a magazine. The audience in which I’m basing my magazine on are younger people such as the age group 16-18 who love the idea of old school and new school reggae music in which is a lot different to the sort subculture reggae music known as bashment which is a lot faster compared to reggae . I want to show that reggae music can also be used for the dancehall scene. My magazine is going to be different from other reggae magazines because I’m going to create my own style of writing in it by relating it to the past and well as people`s lives today. • Audience • I have decided to base my target audience on people between 16 – 25 year old who really enjoy the sound of old school reggae especially lovers rock! Some people are forgetting about lover’s rock especially young people and they are replacing it with other sub genres. i chose this target audience because i believe most people this age need reminded about revival Jamaica music.

  14. Draft fonts • Today I was lucky to have an interview with the reggae legend stamina ASH. He gave me some inspiring words on how to branch out in the music industry. And how he came about with his whole career. • Chantell: hi stamina ash, I happy to be able to interview you today I know your a busy man. • Stamina Ash: well it’s no problem • Chantell: so my first question would be to you is do you write all your hits yourself? • Stamina Ash: Yes, all ma song lyrics are Can Eat:                                            Cant Eat:Goat                                                     Rabbit Turkey                                                  Pig All fish (as long as they have scales)          Camel Cow                                                     Octopus Sheep                                                   Eel Duck                                                     Horse Chicken                                                 Most birds especially birds of prey

  24. The style look etc that you hoped to achieve • Close ups – showing emotions • Bright colours – free ,bold energy • Slang words – subculture ,something new ,youth • Serious faces – dedication ,motivation • Different poses – strength ,energy

  25. Cover of magazine The magazine title suggests a lot about the magazine. The title may suggest that this is the words to the song Dreadlocks ... Linking to Rastafarian ..suggesting this magazine has something to do with reggae.

  26. The way in which the model is sitting makes you think that he is so relaxed and comfortable with the easy lifestyle in which he is living. the model has got his hand on his knee makes you think his hand has be placed there to show a sign of security. • The man on the front of the magazine is bob Marley, he is wearing no top, black trousers and a black hat. This suggest that the dress code is strictly free, the character is free minded and not restricted by his clothes .the character on the front of the magazine has dreadlocks in his hair this may suggest that he is a Rastafarian which is often associated with reggae music. the model having his hand on his cheek and smiling it may suggest that he is pleased with his current situation and that he is rather content being in that position. . This magazine front cover is called rove; this magazine is from the genre reggae and portrays the lifestyle very clearly. The audience for this magazine are for people ranging from 18 onwards. The way this magazine is portrays a lot about the genre. The cover of the magazine is white with green writing, the writing says “roots rock reggae” by using alliteration it makes you emphasize on the r.

  27. WHO WOULD MAKE THE MAGAZINE? WHO WOULD SELL IT?BIG MAJORS OR SMALL INDEPENDENTS • I would make a large company to produce my magazine therefore the technology and equipment is there to make my magazine successful. • I would make local supermarkets and convent stores so therefore reggae magazines can be promoted more

  28. Due to the type of genre I would have to start selling it in small independent industries before promoting into larger markets. • I also would like to promote my magazine at reggae gigs .Due to being something new I would try a create a huge following.
