Producers of Bill Nye TV Series Product Drives Membership Promoting Our Difference Biz Kid$ on PBS SOLUTION A Shared Mission • 13 years on air • Only show broadcast both on PBS & commercial TV • 10 million kid viewers per week • Still in schools today • Received Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval “I believe this will be the greatest partnership in the history of financial education.” Credit Union PBS Summit March 30, 2006 Underwriting Spot: This 15 to 30 second spot at the beginning and end of the program is almost exactly like a commercial, without a call to action or a price. • The show will feature: • A high school credit union branch • The difference between banks and CUs • Credit union educators Promotes credit unions every time Biz Kid$ is everbroadcast. Fun, hip, half-hour show teaches financial literacy through youth entrepreneurship. • Audience: upper elementary and lower middle school kids • How to make and manage your money Cost is less than 1/3 of what credit unions spend on the radio in California alone. Service Junior Achievement is the world’s largest and fastest-growing organization dedicated to educating young people about financial literacy. While funding a socially responsible education project, we receive a national CU awareness TV ad campaign for a fraction of the cost of commercial advertising. Credit Union Difference Opportunity to Make A Difference This program fits with our socially responsible mission of service and education. Other promotional benefits are not the reason that we would fund this program, but they can help credit unions and our members. • Biz Kids Micro-Finance • Helps kids live show’s lessons • Parents co-sign for small micro-loan for child to start business • $25-$40 at participating CUs • Parent and child new CU members Interest from Biz-Kids micro-finance product could go to savings account to maintain family’s membership and teach savings from a young age. Promoted on Biz Kids website and in our credit unions. Provides kids with their first ever experience with credit. Because we are not-for-profit that experience is positive.
