  25. Frequently Asked Questions

  26. Does E.C. Air conflict with other sports/activities (basketball, dance, etc.)? • Yes, but we work to minimize conflicts! • Knowledge of participation in Eau Claire Air is important! • Please list known and possible conflicts on your Tryout Information Sheet

  27. Tell me more about listing conflicts. • Knowingly omitting conflicts is unethical AND detrimental to your daughter. • She will end up missing practice and/or tournaments that she could have participated in had we known about them before scheduling. • Write down ONLY relevant conflict dates • Do not give entire schedules of basketball, band, dance, ACT/SATs, etc. • Prom, Winter Carnival, etc… • We do our best at scheduling away from these special events, but they are not seen as a priority

  28. What team(s) can I try out for? • Athletes must attend the tryout of their age group (based on birth date) • Club Director and Evaluators will determine whether athletes should be offered a position in a higher age group • Athletes may be asked to attend a higher age group’s tryout for 2nd tryout • Individual ability and team needs are both factors in placement decisions

  29. Age Definitions, again.

  30. Questions from Parents/Players • I’m eligible for 16’s and I’m pretty good; should I try out for 17’s? • No – you will need to try out for 16’s. If we feel that you should move up, we may ask you to attend the 17’s tryout on Nov. 16th, or we may contact you to see if you would consider “playing up”.

  31. How will I get schedules, directions to tournaments, etc? • www.ecairvolleyball.com • Tournament schedules • Practice schedules • Directions to tournament sites • Photos Everything ‘Eau Claire Air’ can be found on our website: www.ecairvolleyball.com

  32. I know a player who wants to try out, but cannot afford it. What can she do? • Due to WIAA amateur bylaws, clubs cannot offer scholarships or reduced fees • Contact the treasurer to discuss payment plans • Team fundraisers • Ask family, friends or area businesses for donations!

  33. Do I have to play club to play volleyball in college? • It depends on the college/university you want to play for • Ask the coach! • Understand that most coaches see club as a necessary transition from the pace of high school play to the pace of college play • For the majority of colleges, the club season is their recruiting season

  34. Will EC Air help me get recruited? • Absolutely. • Elissa offers recruiting services & will help you organize materials to send to college coaches • Name on emailing list • Video • Your participation alone helps you be seen by college coaches and shows you are serious about the sport!

  35. Questions from Parents/Players • I have a conflict on one of the tryout dates; will this hurt my chances of making the team? • Possibly. • The higher the age level, the less numbers/teams, making it more difficult to make a team. If you miss 1 of the 2 days, you’re only giving us 50%

  36. Questions from Parents/Players • Will my conflicts hurt my chances of making a team? • Possibly! Volleyball is a team sport. You need to be committed to your team, as your teammates are depending on you to be at all practices and tournaments. Team First! Please, take this into consideration before trying out for one of our club teams.

  37. Questions from Parents/Players • How can I best contact club administration? • EMAIL, EMAIL, EMAIL! • Elissa@ecairvolleyball.com Director • Kim@ecairvolleyball.com Treasurer

  38. Questions? Please contact info@ecairvolleyball.com with questions/concerns.
