  1. Birzeit University Department of History and Archaeology After the British Museum International Training Program : Achievements and Goals Cairo Seminar : 27 – 29 / 3 Prepared By : HaythamDeik March , 2009

  2. My Name is HaythamDeik , and I’m a 3rd year student at Birzeit University , Palestine, Studying Major History and Minor Archeology. I have participated in the International Training Program, at the British Museum Last year 2009. Specifically from 15 June till the end of 24 July . And during the Program I've spent 10 days at Birmingham Museum . My experience at the British Museum , had gained me so much knowledge and changing in my way of thinking towards archaeology , as not a theoretical science but as a science which can combine with many other sciences . As its shown above : Folklore History Anthropology Museum Studies Archaeology Culture Heritage History of Art Architecture

  3. My experience at the British Museum , had motivated me to write a research paper concerning Museum Studies, during an archaeological course named : Special Topic in Archaeology (Arch 439). The Title of the research paper was (The Palestine Archaeological Museum (PAM)/The Rockefeller Museum). The national museum of Palestine established in 1930 , with the great support of American businessman named : John D. Rockefeller with a sum of 2.000.000$, and that’s how the PAM got its second name (The Rockefeller Museum). This Research concerns on the way that the Archaeological objects are presented inside the Palestine Archaeological Museum. And how the story of mankind evolution in Palestine is presented , from its first ages till present day. And here I’ve used the technique of “Museum studies” in order to understand the way that these archaeological objects were presented. And also here I’ve used all the new things , that I’ve learned from the British Museum Training Programme, and the CD’s which the BM gave us at the end of the course.

  4. In my Research paper I’ve concluded the way that archeological materials were presented , this technique is a clock direction , which means that the visitor moves around the Palestine Archaeological Museum in clockwise direction as its shown above … South gallery, representing the stone and Bronze Age’s exhibitions Iron Age , Hellenistic Roman , Islamic , and Crusader to late 1700 South Octagon : Late Bronze and Iron I Ages, and it also contains North Mesopotamian and Egyptian Sculptures

  5. P:S : During my research I’ve asked some help from friends and curators whom I met during the ICTP 2009 at the BM , and here I would like to thank TerhiNurmikko (ICTP Programe assistant) for providing me two important articles of my subject , otherwise I would like to thank Dr JonatheanTubb (Curator at Middle East Department at BM) and Felicity J. Cobbing (Palestine Expolration Fund) for providing me their article about the Rockefeller Museum , and moreover I would like to thank Dr.Rupert Chapman ( Librarian and Levant Curator at The British Museum) for his help and assistant as well in providing some information related to the Palestine Archaeological Museum / Rockefeller Museum.

  6. Ways of Communications after the ICTP : One of most difficult ways in communication with people , is how to stay in contact after having a course with them , exactly a course like the ICTP can illustrate a good example . In present day we have new websites and ideas that can help us to stay in communication :

  7. I would like to illustrate an example of my way in communication with my friends from ICTP 2009 , which is a personal example that happened to me after the finish of the course. British Museum Training Group http://bmtraininprog.wordpress.com
