  1. Juliet Learning objective: To focus on the character of Juliet in Act 5 Starter: Word Rally… Going around the class in a circle, people need to shout out words that they associate with Juliet. Rules: • You cannot use the same word twice • The class judges you on your word: if the majority think it doesn’t count, it doesn’t count! • Teacher’s word is final • Prize for the winner!

  2. Juliet – Act 5Analysing quotes Juliet features little in Act 5 but is spoken of much. Your task is to analyse the following quotes, writing them in your own words… • Balthazar: ‘Her body sleeps in Capels’ monument. And her immortal part with the angels lives’ 2. Romeo: ‘Well, Juliet, I will let with thee tonight. Let’s see for means’ 3. Paris: ‘Sweet flower, with flowers thy bridal bed I strew-O woe thy canopy is dust and stone!’ 4. Romeo: ‘For here lies Juliet, and her beauty makes this vault a feasting presence full of light.’ 5. Romeo: ‘O my love, my wife, Death, that hath suck’d the honey of thy breath, Hath had no power yet upon thy beauty’ • Romeo: ‘Come bitter conduct, come unsavoury guide! Thou desperate pilot, now at once run on the dashing rocks thy seasick weary bark! Here’s to my love! O true apothecary!’

Step 3: Your task is to write a poem about the character of Juliet based on the same rhyme scheme. Ideas: Character qualities you think Juliet has, events she is a part of, how she feels about Romeo, how she dies.
