  2. Training Goal We want to give you the tools and resources needed to provide an engaging and successful CommonHealth program at your agency. Together, we will work to make Virginia’s workforce the healthiest in the nation!

  3. CommonHealth’s Mission • Improve the health of state employees by; • Integrating wellness into the workplace culture • Providing an environment that promotes and supports changes in health behavior • Building trustworthy partnerships between employer, employee and our wellness partners

  4. Who Can Participate? • All state employees at participating agencies, including wage, hourly and part-time workers • Covered dependents (over the age of 18) • Retirees and their covered dependents

  5. Getting Started Gather management support • Agency administrators and supervisors form an advisory committee • Many hands make light work • Look for diverse skills • Represent various departments When “I” is replaced by “we”, even illness becomes wellness

  6. The Nuts and Bolts • Schedule campaigns with your Regional Coordinator • Campaign promotion -get the word out to all employees • Collect and maintain participation information • Distribute CommonHealth Compass (electronic newsletter)

  7. Campaigns Timely health topics like…… • It’s Your Move – Type 2 Diabetes Prevention and Management • Growing Younger – Being healthy at any age • Think FAST about Stroke – Stroke symptoms and how to respond …..and more!

  8. Campaign Options to Meet Your Needs • Traditional Training -15 - 45 minutes • Learning Station - high traffic area (e.g. break room) • Coupon - paper or electronic • Video – web link or DVD Contact Your Regional Coordinator to schedule

  9. Weight Watchers Reach your weight management goals • At work programs, community programs, online programs • Special pricing for Commonwealth employees • 50% reimbursement for employees enrolled in state health benefit program who meet eligibility requirements

The bottom line _______________ Your role as Agency Coordinator: The CommonHealth team will: Provide materials such as flyers to advertise events, handouts, and methods to deliver campaigns to hard to reach employees Train employees on three campaign topics per year Provide publications to be shared electronically • Decide with management when CH can visit to present a campaign • Reserve a space • Get the word out to your co-workers • Distribute publications like the Compass and Weekly Wellnotes
