  2. Minimum Eligibility • Prerequisites: Take ALL prerequisites for LETTER grades. Finish as many as possible upon applying. • Breadth: at least 7/9 breadth classes Language: foreign language requirement • Unit: Completion of at least 60 semester units (upon entering Haas)

  4. Time Line • November 1: Application released at noon • November 30th: Application due date • Jan-March: Review of applications • March 14th: Decision letters mailed. • April 4th: Appeals deadline • June 22: Final decisions mailed • July 2: Summer classes begin

  5. 9-Course Breadths • Arts and Humanities: 2 courses in areas such as art, music, literature, film, foreign language • Biological Sciences: 1 course related to the biology of plats and or animals • International Studies: 2 courses related to a single non-US country or two or more countries • Social and Behavioral Sciences: 3 courses in areas such as Ethnic Studies, American Studies, History, Anthropology, Int’l and Area Studies, Sociology

  8. Graduation Requirements • Complete 32 Upper Division UGBA units • Complete 18 upper division, non-UGBA units • Complete 9 course breadths • Complete 120 units total • Enroll in 13 units per semester • Maintain 2.0 GPA • Graduate from Berkeley in 4 semesters.

  10. Tips! The info not found on the website • NOTE: this is my advice/opinion. It is not FACT. So use your own judgment. • Resume: they don’t care about the appearance of the resume. It’s the content that matters. • Get started early on the essays: 35% can make a huge difference. Plus, you already know the personal statement question. Start thinking of answers as soon as the application comes out.

  11. Tips! The info not found on the website • You don’t have to take ALL of the prerequisites by the time you apply. But you must take them all by the time you enter Haas. If you want, save one prerequisite for the 2nd semester (Stats/Computer Science) • Computer Science at Berkeley can be difficult. If you want, you can take it over the summer at a JC. Check on assist.org

  12. Tips! The info NOT found on the website • Get involved! PBL is great. Business clubs are important. However, it doesn’t have to be Business Related • Set up a back-up major/double major. Start taking classes for both. • Office Hours! Especially for BA10 and Econ. (GSI’s often give clues to exams and essays during OH)

  13. Tips! The info NOT found on the website • Remember: you can take up to 3 breadth classes P/NP. However, only take a class P/NP if you think are you going to get a C or below on it OR if it will severely hurt your GPA • It’s better to be involved with 1-2 clubs and move up the ladder than it is to be involved with several clubs at the basic level

  14. Tips! The info NOT found on the website • Grades Matter the most. • Turn in your application BY Nov. 28th even though its not due till Nov. 30th! • Thanksgiving is a time to look over. Not to WRITE. • Take advantage of friends who are in Haas or upperclassmen. They can give you the best advice.

  15. Tips! The info NOT found on the website • For the spring semester after you apply, if you want to take UGBA classes – sign up for them Phase I. Things get filled up by Phase II. • Get some work experience (internship or job) the summer before you apply. It doesn’t have to be an amazing job, as long as you are learning!!! • Be well-rounded! Emphasize how well-rounded you are. Haas wants well-rounded students.

  16. Tips! The info NOT found on the website • Ask the admission advisor whenever you are in doubt of anything! (510) 642-1421 • Organizations don’t want to know that you joined them because you wanted to get into Haas. That shouldn’t be the motivation either!!!! • Keep it real. • Don’t worry. It’s not the end of the world if you don’t get in. It’s not AS difficult as you may think to get in. College is about learning and having fun, not about getting into Haas.
