  2. The Beginning • AUBG library was founded in 1992 with the generous support of: • AUBG Board of Trustees • Melon Foundation • ASHA • Freedom Forum Foundation • Democratic and Free Bulgaria Foundation • Open Society • Sabre Foundation

  3. The New Library • The new library was opened in September, 2008 • Library Dedication – Panitza Library – May, 2009

  4. The Mission • Supports the mission of AUBG; • Supports students’ education needs; • Enhances faculty teaching and research needs; • Serves the community; • Serves as a model of modern library practice to the academic community in Bulgaria and the whole region.

  5. The Collection • English-language library; • A small collection in other languages – Bulgarian,German, French, Spanish and other languages; • A collection of materials about Bulgaria and the Balkans, translated into English • AUBG Professors’ Publications

  14. The Catalogue • The library uses VIRTUA, a software offering integrated functionality between cataloging, acquisitions, circulation. • Web-based Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) • AUBG Library Catalog

  15. The Organization • The library uses the Library of Congress classification system.

  16. Working Hours • Library has flexible working hours and is opened 88 hours a week during the semesters, and 108 during the finals
