  2. STEP #1 Determine the conjugation of the verb

  3. Look at the infinitive: if it ends in: -are it is 1st Conj. -ēre it is 2nd Conj. -ere it is 3rd Conj. -ire it is 4th Conj.

  4. STEP #2 if it is a 1st conjugation verb, the endings are:

  5. FOR EXAMPLE: porto, portare

  6. STEP #3 if it is a 2nd or a 3rd conjugation verb, the endings are:

  7. FOR EXAMPLE: sedeo, sedēre

  8. FOR EXAMPLE: ago, agere

  9. STEP #4 if it is a 4th conjugation verb, the endings are:

  10. FOR EXAMPLE: dormio, dormire

  11. How do you translate imperfect tense verbs?

  12. I was carrying… you were carrying… he was carrying…

  13. You can also say: I used to carry… I kept on carrying… I began to carry… I carried…
