LessonObjectives and Differentiation • Formative Assessment: During the story the students will list three things that they can save money for orally. • Formative Assessment: After reading the book the students will two reasons why it is important to save orally. • Summative Assessment: After the lesson the students will complete the four rows on the Buying A Present Worksheet at their desks. • The lesson was differentiated to appeal to all students learning styles and to eliminate bias by… • Students were able to answer questions orally.   4. Review of the Lesson • Beginning: Read first half of the book Megan Buys a Present • Why did Megan need to save money? How was she going to save money? • FA: What are something you save money for? • Middle: Read second half of Megan Buys a Present • Do you save money? How do you save money? Where do you put the money you save? • FA: Why is it important to save money? • End: Discussion of Megan Buys a Present • What do we use money more? Have you every bought a present for someone? What does it mean to buy something? • SA: Students will use sticker coins to buy the items on the four rowed worksheet.

  5. Assessment • The assessments were made to see whether students understood the rationale of the lesson • It is important for students to understand the concept of money. You can earn, save, and spend money. • The alignment between standards, the rationale and the assessments: • The standards that were used for this lesson were to describe how money can be used (spent, earned, saved) • The assessments tested whether the students understood that they must work for the money they receive, then save it to gain as much money as needed, then it can be spent.

  6. Assessment Results • The objectives were met by: • Assessment was a worksheet that had different items on them that they would need to take coin stickers to buy the items. • Doing formative assessments to guide student learning and thinking. • Differentiating material so all students’ learning needs were met.
