  2. Introduction • Name of animal: Little Brown Bat • Scientific Name of animal :Myotis lucifugus Invertebrate: verterbrate • Class of animal: mammal • Other names of animal: microbats

  3. How can you tell little brown bats from big brown bats? You can tell if Im a little brown bat or a big brown bat because Little Brown Bats, fur is usually dark brown and glossy on the back. Also Little Brown Bats are only 2.5-4 inches long from the noise to the tail. Big Brown Bats are larger than us. Also their fur looks long and silky. Their face is black. So you can tell between us and notice that we are different.

  4. What kind of habitat and climate do you live in? The habitat and climate I live in is warm nights and definitely my favorite nights are summer nights. People make houses for me made out of wood to eat the bugs outside . Most of the time I sleep upside down in hollow trees. You will also see me in tropical rainforests, mountains, desserts, and maybe in your neiborhood.

  5. Food Chain

  6. What insects do you eat and how do you catch them? I eat lots of different insects. I eat butterflys, ladybugs, and I also eat mosquitos. I use echolocation. Echolocation is when I make a bat call and it bounces on the bug then bounces back to me. That is how I catch the insects. By using echolocation I catch over several hundred insects in one hour.

  7. How do the mother bats take care of the little pups when they are born? I am in pregnancy for 50 – 60 days! They come out by live birth out of me . I feed them. The pups cling on to my nipples and also hang onto my mid section . The pups are born in caves or nurserey colinies . Pups have no fur and their ears are very pointy and small. We also have thumbs on our wings.

  8. What predator's hunt you and when do they hunt? Most of the predator's that hunt for me are opossums, raccoons, skunks, weasels, bobcats, and even cats and dogs. Lots of these animals hunt when I'm still sleeping or when I'm on the ground. Many predator's will eat me, although none depend on me as regular sources of food.

  9. How many insects do you eat? I eat six hundred insects in one hour. I can also eat seven insects in one minute, or six hundred insects in one hour, which is seven insects a day. If we eat twelve hours a day that would be 223, 200 in thirty one days or 2,678,400 insects a year. That is a lot of insects!

  10. My legs are turned around completely so that is how I can hang upside down.
