  1. Geothermal Energy Use it then Reuse it

  2. What is thermal energy • Thermal energy is the energy that you can obtain from the heat of the Earth.

  3. Geothermal Energy • This type of energy is thermal energy. • And it is renwable since you get it from the heat of the Earth. • The heat of the Earth is not a limited source.

  4. An example

  5. How do we get it • A plant of energy that is specialized on geothermal must be built. • First pipes are dug down into the earth. • The pipes reach hot rocks from the earths crust and obtains heat which creates steam. • This steam goes up back to the energy plant and powers up a turbine. • This turbine powers an engine which then produces electricity.

  6. Where should we recover it in Ecuador These energy plants are very expensive and besides it has to be in an area were it has to be in a place that is very warm. In my PAC I would settle my plant next to a volcano or a mountain. The reason is that next or near volcanoes there can have hot rocks next to the volcano. The way that you can measure this heat is by a little digital thermometer that tells you the temperature of the earths crust.

  7. Energy conversions THERMAL ELECTRICAL MECHANICAL

  8. Pros • This energy source is renewable and it is green energy. • It is renewable and is very effective to power up towns or if bigger plants are built then it is used to power up cicties.

  9. Cons • To build an energy plant of this type is very expensive and it takes a lot of time. • Besides there are many areas which do not have the sufficient heat that it needs to power up the turbine and the areas that do have enough heat are disturbed by geographical disadvantages.

  10. How does it interact • This source is environmental since it doesn't include the burning of fossil fuels and any gasoline. The energy plant is totally green and we are not taking any limited resources. • It is also socially important because most of the people agree that this energy source is good and should be used to power up cities.

  11. Why will it address the energy needs of Ecuador? • Ecuador is a small country and it has lots of volcanoes and mountains which means it has hot ground. Since Ecuador has small cities they can start out by powering up small cities like Ibarra, Ambato, etc.. with geothermal energy. Once the country stabilizes the energy source and has an economical advantage then it can power up big cities like Quito and Guayaquil.
