  1. Update of developments and activities18th April 2012 . BW/link met with all HOD in Sept 2011 to discuss results analysis. To look at strengths/areas for development and to support improvement for class of 2012. BW/RR with all HOD in Oct to set challenging targets for Years 10 and 11. To challenge depts to target and track groups and individuals.

  2. Update All departments completed Self Review by Oct ½ term To produce the analysis that will give YBA direction for next stages of development Leadership analysis of 3 year trends in KS3 and KS4 These fed into whole school and dept analysis. Leadership group meet to scrutinise Self Review and create Key Messages for School Development Plan (SDP) Key messages are fundamental to giving the school a direction and focus for improvement. Key messages and commentary produced Shared the findings with staff…..This analysis came from our own self evaluation. All staff have completed Perf Management documentationObjectiveslinked to SDP…L&T, Lit,Num,Thinking Skills, AFL, grps of ls,etc.

  3.   SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT PLAN January 2012 to December 2014 Key Messages Improve learner outcomes at Key Stage 4 (SDP1).   Further embed whole school Literacy and Numeracy strategies to improve learner outcomes at both Key Stages (SDP2) Further develop assessment and monitoring procedures (SDP3).   

  4. Improve the use of the school’s evidence base that informs intervention/learning & teaching strategies(SDP4). • Develop the depth of the school’s analysis and the Implementation of appropriate strategies for identified groups of learners (SDP5). •   The School development plan will have a three year life cycle. This is to reflect the new three year budget arrangements that start in April 2012. The plan will have annual sections to enable regular monitoring. • November 2011

  5. Update BW starts programme of classroom visits where pupils are removed briefly to complete a questionnaire. Leadership continue process. 53 visits made so far. Data analysed and Feedback to staff. To support and test Learning and Teaching focus, pupil voice, provide evidence of the classroom experience of pupils….sustain or change

  6. Update Post mock exam analysis meeting with HOD, BW and leadership link To analyse where were at this point. To identify issues and devise strategies to tackle underachievement. Science dept move to BTEC with sets 2,3,4 This level2 qualification implemented a year early. Gives better prospects for L2 threshold. Science dept working with Learning and Teaching advisor. Book scrutiny done, observations the next step. ( provisionally booked for 12&16th March) Looking at standards and progression across the board. Looking at strengths and areas for development to improve pupil outcomes

  7. Update English department working with learning and teaching adviser. Entry policy discussed and amended. LTA working with dept to analyse mocks and look for issues to address before the final GCSE exams in June. Analysis will produce target areas/individuals to impact on. Maths dept working with Learning and Teaching advisor. Year 9 book scrutiny done. Year 10 planned for March 13th. Looking at standards and progression across the board. Looking at strengths and areas for development to improve pupil outcomes. All HOD observed by Leadership group from Jan to Feb half-term. Next stage observations of all staff by the end of the year. To provide evidence of quality in the classroom. Strengths and areas for development. To monitor implementation of new strategies

  8. Update Literacy plan developed in line with ESTYN guidance. Whole school marking policy developed. Learning mats, key words provided by depts. To address the current literacy pillar. To promote literacy across the curriculum to impact on standards. Extended writing group formed across a number of subjects. To promote writing skills across the curriculum and impact on standards.

  9. Update Enhanced use of PASS data To identify disengagement and intervention Parental Questionnaires - ESTYN style and QA analysis for reports. To receive data for analysis of ‘customer satisfaction’ Close tracking of fixed term exclusion figures… Target to reduce by 20%...At Christmas on target Close tracking of attendance…At Christmas on target..92.1% On going Prof Learning Comm work Governors update 9/2/12

  13. The next steps Plan/Organise Year 11 revision sessions during the period 14th May to 1st June. SSD key skill pilot…IOLP/WOW..15% of L2. GCSE examinations 4 weeks and counting
