  2. 2009 Sydney Success • Over the past 6months: • 400+ applicants for 51 positions. • All schools have onsite support. • All schools have Wireless Phase 1 installed. • 7909 of 8190 laptops assigned state. • Primary Functions • RMU, My Locker, Computrace, SCCM

S2 – Expected to start in march. • Wireless Phase 2 & Associated wireless projects • Full functionality: • Wireless access in all learning spaces. • All promised services such as printing. • Completion of Airwave monitoring system. • “Bare Metal” Imaging • Image updates and successful change requests What’s Coming in 2010

Training session running from 21st to 24th at Enmore TAFE with a Christmas lunch on Tuesday afternoon. • Mandatory shutdown 25th Dec – 9th Jan. • TSOs onsite at school unless on leave until school returns. • Possibility of Professional development for 15ish TSOs. • Options available in some circumstances, negotiate with RTSO. • Central infrastructure needs to stay on for holiday updates and maintenance. TSOs This Holiday Period

  5. Currently under testing before final decision made. • Similar specs to S1 2009 model • Blue • Full-size keyboard • More robust design to prevent damage. • Latest generation Atom processor, noticeable performance increase. S2 2010 Laptop

  6. TSOs have been trained and are being supported in managing the laptop fleet. • If there are any questions your RTSO can assist with direction. • Students are requested to pay for broken or lost laptops. • All info available on the intranet Managing Broken, Stolen & Lost Laptops

  7. Initial design was to inspect laptops as part of the stock take, this will be split into 2 functions. • This years audit window minimal due to other priorities. It may not be necessary. • Stock take designed to minimise disruption to school. Serial check only using barcode scanners where available. Annual Stock take

As part of the stock take split, TSO checking of machines daily and forwarding to school for disciplinary action. • TSO performs technical investigation and reports finding to school for further action. • Some serious breaches have already been picked up by the region and program. Relevant action taken. • Discipline options. Removing laptop privileges in line with existing school policies. Charter Violations & monitoring

Purchasing of DER laptops: • Offer comes from Lenovo & not DER. • Currently discretionary purchases can not be supported by the program & do not have the DER image. • Purchasing of Access Points • Based on the location of learning paces and the current performance of W1. As per 2009 the family is involved in the funding decision. • Vision unit working with DER to establish solutions to current problems. • Vision students and JAWS. • It is a DET responsibility to provide workable technology solutions. • Please consider alternative funding decisions and ask for assistance from your TSO / RTSO.
