Don’t leave it until the last minute!! Weeks 1 & 2- Term 2 - 2014 Batchelor.Luke.L@edumail.vic.gov.au Maths • Don’t forget to practise your spelling words! • Try and be creative with how you practise them. We have done many activities so you should be able to make up your own! • Some ideas are: • Fancy Writing • Rainbow writing • Put your words into sentences • Use a dictionary to find and write the meaning • Look, Cover, Write, Check Tables Your maths tasksis to solve these problems, don’t forget to show your working out clearly. • Crossing the River • A farmer is trying to cross a river. He is taking with him a rabbit, carrots and a fox, and he has a small raft. He can only bring 1 item a time across the river because his raft can only fit either the rabbit, the carrots or the fox. How does he cross the river. (You can assume that the fox does not eat the rabbit if the man is present, you can also assume that the fox and the rabbit are not trying to escape and run away) • **For a challenge try and write your own problem!** • Head over to the maths blog http://sites.berwickfieldsps.vic.edu.au/madaboutmaths/ • and complete BOTH weekly challenges! Don’t forget to enter it into the box at the office! If you don’t have access to a computer, do it during eating time or go to the multimedia labs during recess or lunchtime on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday!! Reading Record Don’t forget to record your reading in your diary!Write the title of the book in each day, even if you just read a page, record the page number/s that you read or the amount of time that you read for. Then get mum or dad to sign your diary at least once a week. Remember your diaries are due EVERY Friday! Reminder: Record anything that you read in your diary, anything. Reading Record Spelling Spelling Focus on these skills while completing your homework • Organisation: • Have you set aside time to complete your homework so it is handed in on time? • Presentation: • Have you ruled a margin on each page? • Handwriting: • Have you set your work out neatly so that others can read it? • Reading practice: • Have you read and recorded your reading each day? • Spelling practice: • Have you practised your spelling? • Persistence • Have you given each task a red hot go? T Homework Checklist Physical Education Challenge Reading Record Choose your own Adventure Story Select a few characters, settings and a problem and write a choose your own adventure story. Choose your own adventure stories contain lots of decisions. 1 decisions leads to one outcome, the other to another. With these stories you write both possibilities. Pretty exciting stuff. Your task is to design a personal training program that a Junior player could follow to improve their fitness and skills. • Remember anything you design you must test out and record your results yourself. • Write your program down and record what you completed.
