  5. INTEGRATED SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT GRANT The Department funded a total of 64 programmes of which 46 was funded through the conditional grant.

  6. HIV / AIDS GRANT The Department funded a total of 85 programmes of which 49 was funded through the conditional grant.

  7. FOOD RELIEF GRANT(ROLL-OVER FUNDS) The Department funded 5 service providers, procured 26 241 food parcels and 4 549 food supplements.

  8. Food Relief grant Factors that influenced spending trends • From the allocation of R20,118 m in the 2004/05 financial year R3,896 m was spent on soup kitchens and administrative expenses. • The unspent funds of R16,222 m was mainly due to the delay in the appointment of service providers for the distribution of food parcels (tender cancelled). • First distribution commenced from 19 November 2005. • The last distribution to occur by the end of January 2005.

  9. Capital acquisition • The over-expenditure in this category is mainly within the Branch: Social Assistance. • This is as a result of expenses towards refurbishment and IT infrastructure development for SASSA’s Regional Office
